About the artist

Viktoriya Yanchuk is a visual artist and physician based in Pasadena, CA. She is self-taught, exploring art since childhood. Born in Ukraine a mischievous child, she used to sneak house paint from her grandpa’s workshop and splatter a mural on an inconspicuous wall of her house. This wall had to be repainted countless times. She began painting again during the pandemic to pacify the trauma of caring for moribund patients. She finds inspiration in quiet moments with nature, noting the daily delights of cloudy skies or the sound of rustling leaves, as well as the unique challenges of the medical profession. Her largest collection “Moral Injury” focuses on the privation of the soul medical personnel take because of their jobs.
